AFTER THE CINEMA SCENE
Scene 2 shows the cinema (estalishing shot), and then pans down to show Jackson and the girl arguing. The director uses over the shoulder shots so that we can easily keep track of whoever is speaking. The song finally begins as they start walking down the street. I think Jackson is wearing a red outfit, which contrasts sharply with the dark background and the girl, so your eye will follow him instead. In the beginning the girl was mad at him, but by the end of the scene both she (and the audience) have fallen for his charismatic dancing and the exciting story he’s weaving. |
This is Alan Walker's promotional poster for the Girls + Boys concert. He has a green / black / white colour scheme, which makes everything cohesive. He has a large image to catch people's attention. The doodled white lines help the silhouette stand out against the background. The concert name is written in a "handlettering" kind of font at the top. The artist's name is largest and in the center as the goal of the poster is to promote the artist. The poster also features the other collaborating artists, the date, time and location of the concert, and where to buy tickets. At the very bottom in smaller text is the record label / company. The size of the font is determined by importance.

For my poster I chose to make the artist's name the largest and in a bright font as it is to promote the debut album. The name is a stage name as many artists from the Electronic / Electro House genre choose to use stage names rather than their real name. I tried writing the album name is a handlettering font that is often used on albums, but I don't know if I like how it turned out (?) At the bottom is the release date and the label name. This was my first time making a poster like this and I learned a lot about editing. If I had to change something I would probably darken the photo or increase the contrast so it matches the album cover better.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The Arctic Monkeys prided themselves on the quality of their music, and on being authentic and "real" to their audience above all else. This influenced their target customer. For example, their audience tended to be people who were working or middle class. People of this socioeconomic status were likely to have similar beliefs/values/systems as they grew up in relatively similar situations. The image of authenticity would appeal to them more than a sound or image that is specifically engineered or relies more on gimmicks. |
